An awareness programme on HIV/AIDS was successfully conducted at Government Senior Secondary School, Ben. The programme was organised by our respected Nodal Teachers, Mr. T. B. Rai and Mrs. Puspa Sharma, with the objective of sensitising students about the importance of health, prevention, and responsible behaviour.
The session was led by our esteemed resource person, Mr. Phur Tshering Lepcha, Assistant Director, Sikkim State AIDS Control Society (SACS), Gangtok, under the Department of Family Welfare, Government of Sikkim. Mr. Lepcha delivered an informative and interactive session, explaining the causes, modes of transmission, symptoms, and preventive measures related to HIV/AIDS. He also emphasised the importance of early testing, proper counselling, and the need to eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with the disease.
