The Sikkim State AIDS Control Society (SSACS) successfully organized an IEC Campaign cum Integrated Health Camp today at the Jorethang Car Parking Plaza. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and provide accessible health screenings to the local community.
Renowned medical professionals, including Dr. Deepa Mala Subba (MD Dermatology), Dr. Kanupriya Rai (MD General Medicine), and Dr. Sabnam Chettri (BDS Dental Surgery), were present to offer consultations during the event.
The program also saw the presence of Mr. Dilip Dong, Municipal Executive Officer of NJNP, and Mr. Ganesh Manger, General Secretary of the Sikkim West Tourism Development Association (SWTDA), lending their support to the cause.
Over 100 patients participated in the camp, where they were screened for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B & C, and Random Capillary Blood Glucose (RCBG). Educational sessions were conducted to inform attendees about the modes of HIV transmission and effective prevention strategies. Free condoms were distributed as part of the awareness drive.
The event was efficiently managed with the support of staff from the OSTC and ICTC units of Jorethang CHC, alongside the Hope Centre IDU-TI under SSACS.
Dr. Diki W. Phempu, Project Director of Sikkim SSACS, oversees the society, which operates under the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
